Barefoot - Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Ethiopia's Abebe Bikila

53 years ago two legendary runners went to Rome's 1960 Summer Olympics. One from India the other from Ethiopia, they both were underdog legends in their own rights and in their respective countries. Also there was small correlation between the flying Sikh and Abebe Bikila. They both were known for running barefoot. Ethiopia's Abebe Bikila has won the gold medal at Olympic after running 42km barefoot on the streets of Rome. As a nation that hasn't been colonized by European power that Olympic victory was another testament that emphasis on we can also win on peaceful sport ground not only on battle ground, that spirit is still alive in Ethiopians.

That as it may be, I look forward to catch Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in action over the weekend. I wish the movie to become a blockbuster success for the inspiration it carries.

P.S For those of you who are running enthusiast there is a old story of another Ethiopian Legend Haile Gebrselassie:  [Endurance]
