How I Got Punked on Webdesign Project

I have been meaning to write this for long time, but I have just been crushed under too many To-do-Lists.
Few years ago while living my Freelance lifestyle, one of my Cameroonian friend (Roland) contacted me to do webdesign project for someone he knew back home. I agreed to work for free with a promise of possible long term referral business from our the (would be) satisfied client. Though i had other side projects seeking my attention. I've completed the work and submitted the website. Its called "LitoDesta.com"(Don't bother checking, its down)

Since they don't have credit card, I personally booked the domain and hosting. As it turned out out the guys whom i did the webdesign are scam artists. The next thing i know is the site ended up on 419 scam Database (I didn't even know about the number 419 before this indecent.) Along with them my name ended up with the offenders list.

I've done what i could immediately by taking down the site. I don't know how many people they scammed in 1 month time that the site was live. The damaged is done. The lesson is learnt the hard way. Dear Freelance brothers and sisters here is my advice Never work a project to someone you can't completely trust. When they go down. They won't go down alone but with your name. All my life i've stayed away from the scam-ers now they get to me through my friend.
